Description :
Major choice is an important decision for students since it determines
the kinds of career that they intend to pursue in life. In TCU, students
have to make major choice at the end of the first year course. The
purpose of this research was to examine the students’ expected major
specialization and identify the factors influencing the students’ major
choice. The data for the study is collected from 200 second year
students via self-administered questionnaire. The study is conducted
using descriptive statistics and multinomial logistic regression method
with the aid of SPSS. The findings of the study indicate that accounting
and finance is the most popular major among the TCU students and
students’ major choice can be explained by gender, personal factor and
career factor.
