Special Talk on Legal Awareness held at UCMT

“The Special Talk on Legal Awareness” was held on 18th February 2025 (Tuesday) at Multipurpose Hall of UCMT. At the seminar, the Rector, Dr.Yi Yi Win addressed the opening speech that the University of Co-operative and Management, Thanlyin, under the supervision of the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development, is holding this legal awareness talk to ensure that all teachers and staff have legal knowledge and understand the relevant existing laws and legal provisions so they can be aware of, understand, and comply with them. The university’s Law Department has already conducted two legal awareness talks for officers and staff on January 16th January and 30th January 2025. Furthermore, she addressed that a first legal awareness training course was conducted for 32 teachers and staff from 4th February to 7th February 2025, and starting from February until September, monthly training courses will continue to be conducted once a month to ensure that all staff members are aware of and comply with the legal provisions. The Rector highlighted that the university’s core functions are Teaching, Learning, Research and Community Service and the lifeblood of the university is Library, Research and Publication. She expressed her gratitude to the Rector, Dr.Nu Nu Yee, Yangon University of Distance Education, who accepted her invitation and will be discussing “Intellectual Property Rights, Research and Universities,” connecting the university’s main functions and its lifeblood, Research and Intellectual Research and Intellectual Property Rights, with the relevant ethics, rules, and regulations, which will be of great benefit to teachers, staff and students. Approximately (700) people attended the Legal Awareness Talk, including the Rector, the Pro-Rector (Academic), Professors, Heads of the Departments, Associate Professors, Acting Heads of the Departments, Subject In-Charges, teachers, staff and students.
