“Knowledge Sharing Seminar on Youth and Multi-Sectorial Development” held at UCMT

The University of Co-operative and Management, Thanlyin held a “Youth and Holistic Development Knowledge Sharing Seminar” on 20th February 2025 (Thursday) at 9:30 a.m at the Multipurpose Hall, UCMT. During the opening speech by the Rector, Dr.Yi Yi Win, she emphasized the importance of connecting students with the workplace during their studies, understanding the life experiences of industry leaders, and applying this knowledge for their own benefit. She highlighted the need for youth to actively engage in multi-sectoral development for the nation, as they are the ones who will shape the future. The development of youth is crucial for the overall progress of the country, and the world will develop even if there has been the youth development. She encouraged thoughtful consideration of actions that benefit for yourself, your family, your department, and country. Youth should actively participate in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG1: No Poverty, SDG 4: Quality Education, and SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy, which are relevant to their development and addressing global issues requires a solid educational foundation. U Saw Win Maung, Director (Coordinator) of the Engineering Department (Roads and Bridges) from the Yangon City Development Committee, discussed the significance of education, the value of time, the importance of university education, and the connection between education and the workplace. He shared experiences through stories and examples, detailing what students should prepare for a successful life. Students engaged in discussions about their inquiries, and the Rector presented commemorative gifts to the teachers who facilitated the discussions. Subsequently, the Rector honored the students who participated in the discussions with books of U Khant Zaw, Permanent Secretary, the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development, including educational materials and development articles as the gifts. A total of approximately (500) attendees, including the Rector, the Pro-Rector, Heads of the Departments, Associate Professors, Subject In-Charges, teachers, and staff attended the seminar.
